About:
Asha completed her Ph.D. in 2025 from the Institute of Cancer Research under the supervision of Dr Rob Van Montfort. She focused on the roles of DEAH-box helicases DHX38 and DHX8 in splicing fidelity using co-immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry. During this time, she identified a novel chaperone NudCD1 that binds to DHX38 and obtained a structure of this complex using cryo-EM. This led to a further PhD programme to study this class of chaperones interacting with DEAH-box helicases.
Asha is particularly motivated by research that bridges structural insights with drug discovery. She joined the Jagtap group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to strengthen her knowledge in cellular biology and integrate it with her structural biology background.
