About:

Divya completed her Ph.D. in 2024 from the University of Birmingham. Her doctoral thesis work was supervised by Prof. Aga Gambus. In the Gambus lab she focused on studying mechanisms of DNA replication termination. During this time, she identified a novel backup pathway for replisome unloading in mitosis catalyzed by TRAIP. She further demonstrated that TRAIP’s activity is regulated through post translational modifications. To achieve these, she utilised a range of molecular biology techniques including immunoprecipitation and radioactivity-based assays.

Divya is particularly motivated by research that bridges fundamental molecular insights with societal benefit. She joined the Jagtap group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to gain knowledge in structural biology and integrate it with her molecular biology background, aiming to develop into a scientist capable of combining mechanistic and structural insights.
